Today did not start off on the best note.
I was exhausted when I woke up and made the executive decision to not shower, and forgot to text my friend and commuting buddy to make sure she was awake until twenty minutes after I usually do...so, she was late herself. In our rush to leave I forgot my phone.
This made the hour commute seem oh so much longer without my phone to supply me with a fun-filled train ride of tetris and facebook. It forced me to buy a Royal Wedding collector's edition of Us Weekly and a Vogue on the way back since Kaitlyn ditched me to brave the train alone. Oh. I also bought overpriced Chex-Mix. It was fabulous to have that sweet little phone back in my hands at 7 when I finally stumbled in my room and collapsed onto my bed. Yes, yes, I have a hard life.
It also turns out that Chicago doesn't give a crap that it's May 17th and is freezing. Yes, I know it's the windy city but could there at least be a sun? Apparently not. I put my coats in storage along with my boots and tights so my bare legs under my dress were ice cold. And I pulled several Marilyn Monroes that kept the homeless interested.
And...speaking of the homeless? Blah. I had two ones in my pocket when I was fighting the wind on my way to the train to go home and decided I would be a good Samaritan and give this money to one of the millions of people standing in the cold. But I lost my nerve. Everyone walks so fast and it's hard to stop and I just didn't know how to pull it off without looking like a noob. There's always next time.
So, not my best day on those notes....but I should probably mention that I spent quite a while in the presence of a Pulitzer Prize winner...so, that kind of put the wind into perspective.
Two more days in the week, and I get to have my Fun Friday with my Mom!!!!!!!
